Therapy for Grand Rapids ResidentsIf you’ve made the decision to visit me for counseling, I want to make the intake process as simple and straightforward as possible. You’ll find some of the basic information here, but please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
What to Expect During the Intake Process
Before we schedule a full counseling session, I ask that you get started by setting up a 15-minute phone consultation. During this short chat, I can answer any questions you may have, give you more information about the therapy process, and we can generally determine whether or not we will be a good fit for counseling moving forward.
This call is very important since therapy is a relationship, and in order to be beneficial and help you achieve your goals, you should feel comfortable talking to me. The phone consultation is a great opportunity to determine whether or not you wish to continue with full sessions. Additionally, we can discuss fees and insurance coverage, paperwork, and other administrative tasks.
After your 15-minute phone consultation, we can schedule an initial intake session, which should take about an hour. In order to keep these appointments short, I ask that patients complete intake paperwork I provide them before they reach my office. We will review your intake paperwork as part of your first session.
Beyond the intake visit, your therapy sessions will be guided by first addressing any urgent needs. Then, we will create a plan to help you achieve specific therapy goals. At each session, we will discuss your goals to achieve change, your progress, and any setbacks.
Fees & Insurance
Sessions are priced on a scale, but they typically range from $100 to $200. While I am not in-network with any specific insurance plans, I am happy to help you complete the claims paperwork in order to ensure you receive benefit coverage for our visits. I happily work with the following insurers:
- Blue Care Network
- BlueCross BlueShield
- United Healthcare
- Magellan
- McLaren
- Priority Health
Cancellation Policy
Please provide at least 48 hours notice before cancellation. This will allow me to offer your time to other clients. Failure to provide adequate notice prior to cancellation may result in a cancellation fee.
